'99 Fair Lawn Cutters Baseball
Welcome to the Cutters baseball page !

The defending NBIL Champions are eagerly awaiting the season opener on April 3rd.

1998 Recap

The 1998 season was a record-breaking one for Fair Lawn High. The team record of 22-5 enabled Fair Lawn to win its' 1st Conference Championship since 1974. The squad also advanced to the Bergen County Tournament semifinal round, dropping a heartbreaking extra-inning game to St. Joseph Regional High School (ranked 14th in the nation).

The Cutters were led by All-County selections Zachary Smithlin and Alex Nicolov.  These two seniors anchored the pitching staff by combining for 19 wins.   Offensively, the team was paced by All-League rightfielder Ralph Letizia, infielders Adam Turkel, Derek Concepcion and Mike Rozema.  In all, seven Cutters received All-NBIL honors and Coach Barton was voted "Bergen County Coach of the Year."

Outlook for 1999

The '99 Cutters look to replace 7 graduating seniors. Promising returning lettermen include Derek Concepcion (3B), Mike Rozema (SS), Mike Schwimmer (OF) and Matt Kemp(C). The pitching staff must be rebuilt as only Concepcion (3 innings) saw any varsity level action last year.
