WHAT IS HISTORY?

Here are two famous quotations regarding history:

"History is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies and misfortunes of mankind."
                                          Edmund Gibbons 1776

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
George Santayana

Do you believe these declarations to be true?
What "lessons" can you learn from history?
What can you take from this largely 20th-century course that can be applied to your lives as we enter the 21st century?

Welcome to my History Site
I hope that both students and parents will find it useful.   I have included information about class procedures and scheduling.   You will also find class notes as well as a current-events glossary.  It is my hope that students will  use this page to enhance their understanding of class material. The page allows you to catch up on things you may have missed; as well as explore links that can deepen your understanding of American History.
For parents, this page is an opportunity to get a sense of what is going on in our class; things perhaps your teenager generally doesn't tell you or show you.

Finally, I have included a number of links I believe you will find interesting and helpful in your search for historical knowledge.

Please feel free to contact me for comments and questions.
